Medallion Associates is founded and establishes its first office on West 19th Street in Manhattan.

1965

One half of all Americans use coupons on a regular basis.

1966

Bar coding is first used commercially, and the general-purpose credit card is born.

1973

The first electronic cash register relying on a mainframe computer is developed.

1974

Planograms are first introduced into big-box retail stores.

1975

The first personal computer is introduced to the public.

1982

Medallion introduces universal sign kit programs to meet a growing demand from competitive retailers.

1985

Medallion acquires Shaw Press and immediately doubles its services to major retailers nationwide.

1990

Medallion expands its offering to include point-of-purchase.

1991

Medallion wins the prestigious Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) Award for the first time.

1992

Medallion is honored with its first Display of the Year Award from POPAI.

1993

Medallion expands into international markets with client partners in Europe and South America.

1994

Medallion creates its first concept shop for Bauer.

1995

E-commerce and digital marketing are introduced into the retail lexicon.

2000

Medallion pioneers concept shops for major US retailers to test new products and explore new markets.

2004

Medallion expands manufacturing capabilities to China.

2005

Medallion Associates formally changes its company name to Medallion Retail.

2005

Medallion Retail acquires a facility in New Jersey to house Inventory, Fulfillment & Shipping (IFS) operations.

2009

Medallion Retail begins its affiliation with GlobalShop as a featured presenter.

2010

IFS successfully delivers its 2 millionth pick-and-pack retail fulfillment program.

2010

Store loyalty programs become a standard practice in retail marketing.

2011

Pop-up retail gains traction as a sales space opportunity for both online and offline retail brands.

2011

Medallion Retail utilizes its experience with concept shops to make pop-up a key offering to its clients.

2012

Medallion Retail adds web design, social media marketing, and mobile strategies to its arsenal of services.

A big-picture thinker and multi-disciplined marketer, Terry drives growth, innovation, and collaboration across our company. She has true passion for the retail industry, evidenced in innovative problem solving that results in deeper, more meaningful customer connections for clients. Her definition of our success? Your brand’s success. Terry has won numerous POPAI awards, including the Temporary Display of the Year. Clients she has partnered with include Foot Locker, Nike, the Vitamin Shoppe, Timberland, Toys “R” Us, the NBA, Barnes & Noble, and Sports Authority.

Michael Decker / VP, Director of Marketing Strategy & Business Development

Michael has thrived in the world of national retail and brand marketing from both the agency and client sides over the course of his 25 years in the communications industry. He is responsible for leveraging brand, shopper marketing, and in-store visual merchandising expertise to help new retail and brand clients build custom, dynamic selling environments. His broad marketing experience extends to international retail, health, CPG, beauty, financial services, and hospitality brands, including Medifast Weight Loss, Sweet’N Low, Sugar in the Raw, Matrix / Biolage Hair Care, Barnes & Noble, Foot Locker, Valley National Bank, Hilton Hotels, and The Waldorf Astoria.

Tom Walther / Managing Director

Adaptive, flexible, focused, and forever curious, Tom understands the importance of a strong foundation and forward vision. Part operations expert, part process strategist, and part performance coach, he utilizes his business management design and development expertise to map out where Medallion Retail needs to go, and to ensure that development results in an enhanced brand experience for you and your customers. Tom began his career at MTV Networks, where he was part of the award-winning News and Specials Division. He has successfully launched several interactive marketing agencies and served as a business optimization consultant. Clients he has worked with include Sony, Mercedes-Benz, Coca-Cola, Chase, Condé Nast, Walt Disney, and Barnes & Noble.

Dona Peters / Senior Director, Strategic Partnerships

With over 25 years of experience working with specialty brand retailers, Dona understands the many challenges of driving consumer engagement, brand visibility, and positioning in and out of the brick-and-mortar environment. Her multi-layered perspectives and experiences in marketing to the traveling public, news and gifts, fine spirits and wine, gourmet food, designer/luxury hard goods, and fragrance and cosmetics provide the perfect backdrop for helping to create effective and dynamic in-store programs for Medallion Retail’s clients. Brands Dona has worked with include Marriott, Duty Free Shoppers, Godiva, and British Airport Authority.

Having worked on both the client and agency sides of our industry, Jennifer knows the importance of nurturing meaningful and lasting client relationships. To her, it’s not about simply being available; it’s about being connected. Jennifer understands the needs, challenges, and objectives of our clients and their brands, and is able to translate that understanding into effective, consumer-facing communications. Jennifer was honored with the prestigious National Merchandising/Marketer of the Year Award while working at Nike, and has a demonstrated expertise in partnering with leading retailers to transform concepts into striking brand messages. Clients she has worked with include Barnes & Noble, Barnes & Noble College, Converse, Destination Maternity, and Avon.

JP Terlizzi / Executive Creative Director

JP drives ideation and execution for our clients, ensuring quality from inception to installation. He enjoys helping clients take strategically creative leaps while making sure they remain true to the fundamentals that made their brands great to begin with. His expertise lies in developing thoughtful design solutions that cross all channels of retail communication. JP is a recognized authority on applying generational and trends insight to marketing strategy, and is a sought-after industry panelist and speaker.
